Incapable Mixing
Collaborative work with Nele Arnold from Humboldt Universität of Berlin and Leibniz-ZAS.
This project is based on the data in the "incapable" corpus. The corpus data is gathered through the investigators' daily speech and the mixing instances they produce simultaneously, due to the "incapability" to produce languages solely in German or English. The mixed sentences illustrate that the mixing does not merely reflect the proficiency level of the speakers, but rather, the competence of flexibly employing the grammar of German and English.
